340 High Street

Student art magazine
design and production

340 High Street is an annual art magazine to showcase works created by students of Tidewater Community College’s art programs. The 2013 edition was the 15th anniversary of the magazine and like most 15-year-olds we thought it should be a little rebellious; we used metallic inks, made the pages black, and made the magazine a perfect-bound book for the first time ever.

Our class had a hand in every part of the process, from presenting concepts for the book theme to deciding which pages each piece would be placed on, and finally the actual book production.

During the production process, I set up the master grid along with paragraph and character styles, then did a share of spread layouts.
